Romancing the Tropics | Ernesto Bedmar, Patti Shi, Oscar Riera Ojeda

Romancing the Tropics is a monograph compiling the timeless beauty and exotic mysticism inspired by the architectural masterpieces of Ernesto Bedmar. Based in the Garden City of Singapore, Bedmar, originally from Argentina, brings fresh and inescapably sublime relevance to his architectural creations. His work has climatic and cultural importance in Southeast Asia, specifically Singapore, which is a virtual melting pot of different peoples. The work is a serious attempt to understand the importance of tradition to our own lives. The 12 staff firm draws upon diverse precedents and marries them to a generous perception of the potential of Modernism. The book displays 10 of the most significant residential projects done by the firm since its inception in 1986. It includes a foreword by Robert Powell, an introduction by Geoffrey London, and an interview with Ernesto Bedmar conducted by Erwin Viray. Beautifully illustrated with stunning colour photographs, this publication also includes presentation and working drawings, sketches, and perspectives to fully detail the quality and craftsmanship of this internationally acclaimed firm.
