Poet, playwright, broadcaster and Professor of Poetry at Oxford University Simon Armitage has been commissioned by 14-18 Now to write a sequence of poems in response to photographs (aerial, oblique and panoramic) of areas associated with the Battle of the Somme, which took place on the Western Front between July to November 1916.
